Identify a current business issue - Research Paper Example This has caused businesses to take a step back and consider ethics seriously. Companies rely on auditors and accountants for their financial processes. For this reason, a strict code of ethics should be followed by accounting professionals. Even though it is common to find unethical behavior in accounting professions, ethics in accounting is vital because it is important to ensure a correct and clear financial image of a business, to instill confidence and trust with stakeholders and the public and to prevent fraud, embezzlement or financial scandals. Ethics are the backbone of any business and it is vital that ethics are implemented within the accounting and bookkeeping systems of an organization (Axline, 1990). Like other operating bodies involved in business activities, Accountants also need to focus on ethics set by the company in order to solve the problems and complexity that they will encounter. For example, the capital marketsââ¬â¢ need to focus on the broken up profits th at may attract an organizationââ¬â¢s management authorities to bend or even break accounting rules to inflate reported net income. In these situations, technical competence is not enough to resolve the dilemma (Hoffman, 1996). Qualitative Research The chosen method of qualitative research for conducting research on Ethics in Accounting is literature review, which facilitates the researcher to read and analyze the collected data from various sources and incorporate it in his research. Hypothesis Even though it is common to find unethical behavior in accounting professions, ethics in accounting is vital because it is important to ensure a correct and clear financial image of a business, to instill confidence and trust with stakeholders and the public and to prevent fraud, embezzlement or financial scandals. Literature Review Ethics are said to be an intangible asset of any organization and a key to success as it a system which is led by the moral and fair systems helps distinguishi ng the wrong or right. Problems in ethical system are, infect, a situation faced by a group of persons or by an individual, and to solve these ethical problem, they need to get complete information (ââ¬Å"Role of Ethics in Accountingâ⬠, 2011). According to Axline (1990) in his journal about accounting, ethics are the backbone of an organization and play a vital role in the development of the organization. As the importance of ethics is increasing, organizations are becoming more conscious about the ethical system in their book keeping and accountancy. Ethical environment in the accountancy and book keeping is now subject to scrutiny and criticism from the media, regulators, and public interest groups (Axline, 1990). Although accounting is a very helpful record of a business and it is a most valuable sort of knowledge, people who are directly or indirectly related to the firm believes that the accounting records should be same like a pure science and it should be strong enough to solve some problems of the firm. Similar to the medical and legal professions, society is also obligate to give grants to the public accountants some extra and especial rights which help them improving their performance and handle certain activities with more proficiency as they are suppose to get something good in return (Mautz, 1988). Professional practitioners are always on the higher expectations of the public and they are

The marketing strategy of Apple - Essay Example This research will begin with the statement that Apple Inc. is a multinational company based in the United States, which specializes in designing, development, and selling of electronics to consumers, including phones, music players, computers, and computer software. Apple ranks second after Samsung, which is the most profitable information technology company in the world. Nonetheless, the success of Apple Inc. is associated with its marketing strategy, which is considered effective. Apple employs a simple marketing strategy, which involves its consumers, thus giving the company an edge over other companies in the information technology industry. However, if Apple could consider improving its marketing strategy, this would guarantee it more profits and continued competitiveness in the market. The marketing strategy of Apple is based on three main important factors. These are trust, communication, and focus. The company believes that it is important to be clear on the information the company wants to pass to consumers through advertisements. This, therefore, results in a focused communication with consumers. On trust, Apple aims at producing quality products, instead of competing with other companies. The high quality of Apple products ensures customer loyalty.à For this reason, Apple does not throw its products at consumers in its adverts; instead, the company only explains how the new product works, including the features that it possesses. (Nosal Web). Apart from the simplicity of the marketing strategy of Apple, this also exhibits a great level of differentiation. The company puts great efforts in ensuring that its products are highly differentiated from other products produced by its competitors. The design of Appleââ¬â¢s product is superior, compared to that of its competitors, thus ensuring its differentiation. In addition, Apple wants its consumers to have a good experience using its products. Therefore, the company develops both software and hardware to enable customers to enjoy using its products (Bui Web). Since the quality of Apple products is high, the company also sells these products at a higher price. Apple is known as a ââ¬Å"high-priceâ⬠leader in the information technology industry. However, today, Apple attempts to lower the price of its products, as a strategy of increasing its customer base. Alternatively, Apple produces complex products at a high price, and then produces lower-price versions of such products, which have fewer features, thus suiting the needs of diverse customers (Bui Web). With regard to distribution; Apple has a total number of stores exceeding 300, with about 50 stores in California, where the company has its headquarters. The Apple staff in these distribution stores offer full service to customers. However, the staff is not trained on selling skills, but only on addressing customer problems and queries on how different products work (Bui Web). This marketing strategy for Apple is appropriate for the company, since it has worked on increasing the companyââ¬â¢s profits over the years. First, this marketing strategy does not base on beating or competing with competitors. However, Apple focuses solely on the design and nature of its products to have an edge over competitors. Apple does not compare itself with its competitors such as Microsoft, but instead focuses on its own self-improvement, to remain competitive in the industry. In addition, the fact that the company aims at developing a pleasant experience for its customers, shows that the company is focused on customer needs and not its desire for profits, like other companies in the industry. Nonetheless, customer-centeredness is a great value, which Apple has adopted in its marketing strategy, which therefore, makes the strategy effective and agreeable. Although Apple has performed well in the market for the past decades, today there are

Biomechanical Principles In Basketball Essay Basketball is a very competitive and popular sport in our society today. The NBA playoffs are going on right now and it has proved to be a very physical and intense post season. This sport takes an extreme amount of talent, coordination, and athletic ability to become a champion. There are a few biomechanical principles that are present during the game of basketball that help these athletes become great. The first biomechanical principle that is present in basketball is Newtonââ¬â¢s Second Law of Motion. This law deal deals with acceleration in the sport. The law states, ââ¬Å"The change in motion of an object is proportional to the force impressed; and is made in the direction of the straight line in which the force is impressedâ⬠. Newtonââ¬â¢s Second Law is applied to the dunking aspect of basketball. When a player is about to dunk the basketball a certain amount of force must be produced to jump. Also a certain amount of acceleration must be produced to send the player upwards towards the rim. If this does not happen then the player is going to not be able to dunk the basketball. The weight of the athlete also plays a big role in this action as well. A player who is heavier is going to have a harder time jumping as high as a player with less mass. The next biomechanical principle I found that deals with basketball is another Newton law. Newtonââ¬â¢s First Law deals with the law of inertia. This law is applied when a player is attempting a pass to his or her teammate. Newtonââ¬â¢s First Law states that an object will stay in motion unless acted upon by another force. When a player is passing the ball to their teammate, the ball will stay in a straight line of motion unless a member of the opposing team attempts to steal the ball from its destination. Lastly frictional force is another biomechanical principle that I found present in the game of basketball. The friction between the athleteââ¬â¢s shoes and floor must be very high. Static friction is used when the player wants to push off from the floor to make an athletic move. The type of shoes that the athlete wears is also going to play a huge role in how affective the playersââ¬â¢ moves are. Frictional for occurs when the player pushes down and backward on the floor. It is the force that acts forwards on the player and backwards on the floor. If it was not for frictional forces the athlete would not be able to start or stop his or her motion. In conclusion I found this biomechanical breakdown to be very interesting. Now that I have taken this course I look at sports from a greater biomechanical perspective. I feel that taking this course will really pay off as I become a professional in the field. Being able to break down sports into such a perspective is a great attribute to have as a future professional.

DuBois and Black Nationalism The Epigraph:à à à à à ââ¬Å"The colored people are coming to face the fact quite calmly that most white Americans do not like them, and are planning neither for their survival, nor their definite futureâ⬠à à à à à W.E.B. DuBois ââ¬Å"A Negro Nation within the Nationâ⬠The Premise:à à à à à Black Nationalism is a pragmatic solution for the success and survival of the oppressed African Americans. The Argument: Black Nationalism is defined by Karenga, as the political belief and practice of African Americans as a distinct people with a distinct historical personality who politically should develop structures to define, defend, and develop the interests of Blacks as a people. Black Nationalism can be traced back to the 18th century, back to William Edward Burghardt DuBois, the most prominent black intellectual of all time. Black Nationalism is the response of African Americans to the continual racism and oppression they experience. It came about because of two reasons; the racism that they faced daily, and being exploited economically by white supremacy. Black Nationalism seeks a solution to the problems that African Americans face on a daily basis. After the Civil War, the situation of the black people was not good; it was a semi-free, semi-slave situation. An example of this is tenancy, where the Blacks have control of the work process and work schedule but ultimately had to give up the fruits...

College education essentially is the key to success in the future. It opens many doors of opportunity and allows us to explore every option available. College education can provide a student with many more new and exciting opportunities that they never would have had if they drop out at high school. College education is important because you need a degree in order to get a good job or a stable career. Iââ¬â¢d like to talk of some of the benefits that furthering your education can provide. It is common for students in high school to wonder if college education is really important. Many high school students donââ¬â¢t enjoy their school life, so it is little wonder that when they have the chance to leave education many of them are tempted. However the importance of college education, as well as the huge differences to high school, should not be overlooked. Many students donââ¬â¢t know what they want to do with their life yet, thats why I feel everyone should go to college. In college you can learn about things you are really interested in and pinpoint what you want to do in life. In high school you canââ¬â¢t really do this so many students donââ¬â¢t know the opportunities they can fulfill. Lastly, these days if you donââ¬â¢t have a college education itââ¬â¢s likely that you wonââ¬â¢t make it very far in life. Businesses today only want the smartest people working for them, so they always overlook the drop outs and people that never went to college. If you want to make a good amount of money and be successful I strongly encourage you to go to college and get a good education. I would say this is the most important reason to go to college. In todayââ¬â¢s economy I believe going to college is the best decision you can make. having a good education has so many great aspects. Never overlook getting a quality education, it will always do you good in the longrun.

Life of Karl Marx Karl Marx was possibly one of the most influential thinkers of his time. Marx was born in Trier, Germany on April , 15 1818. His father, a Jewish lawyer, provided a comfortable life for Marx and his siblings. His mother, Henrietta, was of Dutch decent. His parents goal was to provide a family life that would foster an environment conducive to the development of their children. His father hoped Karl would make a profound impact on the world. If he had only known how profound that impact would be. Marxs radical political ideas can be traced back to his high school years (1830-35). Several of his teachers and fellowâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦This was to be a major turning point for young Marx. While at Berlin, he was exposed to the doctrines of Hegal. This exposure would have profound impact on the development of his own ideas. Marx joined a group of fellow students called the Young Hegalians. This group studied Hegals ideas on the development of the human mind. Through these studies, Marx gained the firm belief that all questions could be answered through the use of scientific or philosophical principles. Marxs atheistic views coupled with his studies of Hegalian philosophy lead him to this conclusion. These views lead to criticism from the university. Marx was forced to transfer to the University of Jena in 1941. His radical ideas and thesis seemed to be more readily accepted there and received much more credibility. Marx received his degree later that same year. After graduation, Marx took a job at Rheinische Zeitung, a German paper. It was not long before he was appointed chief editor. In this position he had great freedom to express his ideas. He wrote articles on various political and economic issues. His radical approach to these issues was to spell his demise. It was not long before Marx was asked to step down as editor. At this point Marx moved to Paris where he began his work with the communist views of a group of French workmen.
